Basic Christianity
for those wishing to be Confirmed and others!

7th September to 26th October each Tuesday evening at 8 pm. A course for those who want to find out more about Christianity and the Church – perhaps with a view to being confirmed, perhaps not.

If you would be interested, please speak to Susan (tel. 362173) to find out more details.

Mother's Union

What is the Mothers’ Union?

The Mothers’ Union is a Christian organisation with more than 3 million members in 74 countries – we have a shared belief in the importance of family values.

Who can join the Mothers’ Union?

Anyone who is baptised and believes in the importance of family life can become a member and we would love you to join our branch.   Men and women, married or single, parent or not, all can and do join the Mothers’ Union.

What do we do?

As a branch, we have monthly meetings, afternoon and evening, usually with a speaker. Some branches are involved in practical support, for example running prison crèches or contact centres, to enable separated families to spend time together. Here in Ongar and Shelley, we, as members, are able to support our Rector in daily parish life.

Welcome to Billericay Branch!

MU Billericay Visit

We were very pleased to welcome the Billericay Branch on the afternoon of 23rd June when they joined us for a  tour of St. Martin’s Church led by our very own Frank Hart.

Assisting at Baptisms

Susan has asked that a representative of the Mothers' Union attends every Baptism in the parish and this is proving a very fulfilling way of honouring our aims and objectives as Mothers’ Union members.   Not only are we helping Susan during the service, but it is a joy to join the baptismal party in welcoming a new addition to the Church family.

Sally Gowing has kindly agreed to keep the list of ‘forthcoming baptisms’ and has names of people who have shown a willingness to help. Not only M U members, but other members of the congregation are happy to be on the list. If you feel that you could help on a very occasional Sunday, please let Julia Frost or Sally know.
